Date with dim sums

BENGALURU : This monsoon, pan-Asian restaurant Misu has launched a special menu to satisfy all your dim sum cravings. On till June 30, this menu includes some popular and traditional dim sums, served with dipping sauces that range from sweet-tangy to fiery. On a crowded Thursday night, we made our way to the intimate, dimly-lit restaurant, all set to sink our teeth into some steaming hot dim sums.
We started with the Chicken and Prawn Siu Mai – open dim sums popular across the world – which were filled with mildly-flavoured meat that went perfectly with the hot dipping sauce.

The XO Prawn Dumplings were next. Made with the traditional XO sauce from Hong Kong, we loved this one for the juicy, fresh prawns. For those who enjoy their share of spice, the Sour and Spicy Chilli Dumplings are a good choice, and they are available in vegetarian and chicken options. The sour-spicy sauce that the dumplings were served in were a combination of spicy chilli oil and Sichuan pepper, and go perfectly with the mild dumplings.

A personal favourite – and a great option for vegetarians – were the Broccoli and Cashew Dumplings. The cashew and broccoli make for a crunchy stuffing, which was surprisingly good. The Fried Wontons with Wasabi Mayo were one of the best selling dishes on the menu, and crispy outer layer was complemented by the creamy wasabi mayo. We especially loved Xiao Long Bao Soupy Dumplings. Traditionally prepared in a Xiaolong, which is a small bamboo steaming basket, gives this dumpling it’s name.

The dumpling is eaten off with a special soup spoon, and the flavours are said to explode in your mouth. We tried the chicken option, and the rich, soupy broth flowed into our mouths with the first bite. We also had the Spicy Pomelo Salad and the Som Tum Salad, both of which were fresh and well-flavoured.
Paired with their classic cocktails, this menu is great for anyone who isn't looking for a heavy meal. End the meal with a scoop of their lemongrass or matcha ice creams for a fully satisfying experience.
Cost for two: `1,400 (approx.)
