CHENNAI: BHEL has added another feather in its cap by successfully manufacturing the largest rating HVDC converter transformer of 498 MVA rating for ±500 kV HVDC Bipole. The first unit has been successfully type tested in presence of experts from Siemens Germany and witnessed by PowerGrid. The transformer was flagged off by SS Gupta, Executive Director, BHEL , Bhopal in presence of higher officials. This transformer has been manufactured as a part of prestigious joint venture project with Siemens Germany for execution of 3000 MW, HVDC Bipolar link.
