HYDERABAD: State-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) said a 500-mw unit-IV of Simhadri super thermal power plant (stage II) has been synchronised with the main grid on Friday.
With the synchronisation, NPTC’s total installed operational capacity in Simhadri has gone up to 2,000 mw.
The power generated from the Simhadri stage-II will be supplied to southern states including 384.4 mw to AP, 176 mw to Karnataka, 80 mw to Kerala, 197 mw to Tamil Nadu and 10 mw to Puducherry. However, the entire power generated from Simhadri Stage-I (2 x 500 mw) i.e 1,000 mw is being supplied to AP alone.
Meanwhile, natural draft cooling towers of (165 meters) height erected at the Simhadri plant are the biggest in Asia and sixth biggest across the world.
