Iconic American brand Harley-Davidson showcased their two new motorcycles: the new Street 750 and the Street 500 a day before the EICMA motorcycle in Milan. The Street series, a product of the Rushmore Project, is built on an entirely new platform - the ‘Revolution X’.
The new motorcycles will sport a new liquid-cooled V-twin engine, which will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. A belt drive will transmit the power to the rear.
The design highlights include a tear drop fuel tank and 7-spoke alloy wheels. Both the Street series motorcycles will come in black and red variant as color options while LED Tail Lights and Bullet Signals are standard.
HD is expected to price these motorcycles around $7000 which roughly translates to₹4.5 lakh. The exact pricing details will be announced in the 2014 Auto Expo, to be held in Greater Noida. The production is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2014 and HD is expected to ship at least 7000-1000 units from its Bawal facility. The 750 will make its India debut at the India Bike Week in Goa coming January.
There are rumours doing the rounds that Harley might be working on a 250-300cc motorcycle for India, a motorcycle that would compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar, Ninja and the CBR250R. With India’s premium motorcycle market growing rapidly, and HD leading the charge in terms of sale, it would be safe to assume that these motorcycles will be priced aggressively. A price tag of 2-3 lakh will make it a sweet deal.
