Rs 3,000 crore black money detected in H1

Economic offenses enforcing agency, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB) has detected `3,000.98 crore black money in the first half of this year.

Economic offenses enforcing agency, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB) has detected Rs 3,000.98 crore black money in the first half of this year.

The agency is reported to have culled out 174 cases between the first six months of 2013 (January-July) which involves economic offenses such as tax evasion and money laundering among other crimes.

They have also unearthed Rs 386 crore in crimes such as evasion of central excise, customs duty and service tax, it was reported. The agency said that they had received close to 843 intelligence inputs from various enforcing agencies.

Earlier, the CEIB is also reported to have detected about Rs 2,280 crore of unaccounted income being allegedly routed through Private Placement Programme (PPP). This method has become the new trend of converting black money into white.
