The BSE benchmark Sensex recovered by nearly 34 points in early trade today on fresh buying by funds and retail investors.

The 30-share index, which had lost 180.06 points in the previous session, recovered by 33.91 points, or 0.17 per cent, to 20,458.93.

The National Stock Exchange Nifty inched up by 2.25 points, or 0.04 per cent, to 6,061.35.

Consumer durable, realty, capital goods and oil and gas sector stocks led the recovery.
