Invest in Uncut Diamond Jewels: Showcase the Beauty of Rough, Natural Diamonds in Your Contemporary Jewellery

Most people look for polished and cut diamonds when shopping for jewels, but do you know that natural, uncut diamond jewels are even more amazing than any other diamonds in the world? Even during economic ups and downs, the prices of polished diamonds may move up and down, but that of the uncut stones remain rock-steady.

The beauty of the natural, rough diamonds is being re-introduced into contemporary jewellery, gradually transforming the trend from polished diamond jewels to those embedded with these uncut beauties. Just like the way it was done several years back, the natural stone’s beauty is celebrated and never changed or refined from its original form. Beauty and timeless elegance is what most buyers look for, when purchasing diamonds, and the same is all the more evident in uncut diamond jewels with the natural aura of the precious stones.

Uncut diamonds are admired for their natural beauty and untouched, pure state. Their value lies in their raw material as well as beauty, but several of them still do not realise that it’s the cost of these uncut stones that decides a polished gem’s price. The beauty of a diamond doesn’t emerge after it is polished, but rather it’s naturally endowed with its splendour and exquisiteness in unique and beautiful shapes.

Inspired by the unique and untouched shape of each uncut diamond, the modern designers of today create strong statement pieces that appeal to the diamond lovers. The beauty of the rough diamonds along with elegant and modern designs has started attracting many buyers who wish to reflect their individuality in their choice of diamonds.

When the Managing Partner of one of the top Mangalore diamond jewellers, Laxmidas Jewellers, Vishnu was asked about the increasing acceptance of these rough diamonds, he said – “Uncut diamonds are valued for their natural beauty, rarity and character. Polished diamonds are valued because the uncut diamond was valuable to start with and in contrary to the general belief, cutting and polishing diamonds add just a small fraction to its overall value. This alone justifies that uncut diamonds are more precious and it isn’t surprising that they are slowly gaining popularity.”

Based on his experience, Vishnu also explained about the factors based upon which, buyers can determine the value of uncut diamonds.

  • Colour: Uncut stones with a less visible colour are more precious. This is why colourless diamonds command extremely high prices. Stronger the colour is, lower is the value of the stone.
  • Clarity: The value depends on the natural flaws found in these gems. Those with few visible flaws are more precious when compared to the gems with several prominent defects.
  • Carat: Carat refers to the measure of weight and generally bigger gems are more precious as they are rarer. However, uncut diamonds with higher carat are not necessarily always costlier when compared to smaller ones. For instance, if a rough stone has several visible flaws that might require cutting, its higher carat value might not make it more precious than one that’s smaller but with fewer flaws.

Now that you know how valuable and timeless uncut diamonds are, do think about ringing in the New Year by gifting your loved one an elegant jewel embedded with these rough beauties.
