TRAI Assures Information Paper Regarding Call Drop in Next 15 Days

NEW DELHI: Amid rising concerns of call drops, the TRAI is now under pressure to clearly stipulate factors and compensation to the consumers by telecoms due to call drops.

“TRAI will bring in the second information paper within two weeks time clearly,” said TRAI chairman R.S. Sharma.

TRAI is circulating information paper regarding the quality of service of calls specifically in the areas of Delhi and Mumbai. Such surveys are to be extended to other cities as well, said Sharma in the 11th National Summit on e-Governance & Digital India.

“After 15 days, we will check whether they are able to improve the situation or not on issue of call drops. Otherwise, we will take a call as what are next step to be taken,” he added.

Sharma also said that TRAI has already floated a consultation paper which essentially talks about compensating the consumers.

The TRAI is in hand with telecom service operators to find reasons for major call drops in Mumbai and Delhi.

Surveys would be carried in various other cities and necessary corrections would be applied and would be monitored over the next 15 days.
