Karnataka government to hold tech summit in November

BENGALURU: Karnataka government is to organise 'Bengaluru Tech Summit' from November 29 to December 1.

The theme of the summit would be 'Innovation and Impact'.

"We will be holding the summit, which would be a global event," Minister for IT/BT, Science and technology and Large and Medium Scale Industries K J George told reporters here today.

The summit was being organised under the guidance of the Vision Group on Biotechnology, Vision Group onInformation and the organising committee, KrishnakumarNatarajan, officials said.

The summit would focus on emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and Internet of Things, among others, principal secretary to IT/BT Gaurav Gupta said.

He said, "We have changed the focus and brought all kinds of technology like biotechnology, nanotechnology for which global experts and multi-national companies will be invited and discuss on research collaborations, research and development ecosystem that exist here.

Startups would also be one of the key focus areas, especially in the areas of impact like health care, education and agriculture among others, he added.

Noting that NITI Ayog would also be participating, Gupta said they were likely to share insights into the use of technology for a new India that would have a digital economy.

Various corporates, startups and accelerators also were likely to attend, the officials said, adding that the focus would be more on research, collaboration and product development.
