BANGALORE: The Bangalore IV Additional District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRF) has directed the Sun Direct To Home (DTH) distributor to pay Rs 5,000 compensation for deficient service.

K C Usha of Hanumanthnagar had bought a DTHset-top box from Mathew, the distributor of Sun DTH, but the device stopped functioning just a month after it was installed. Having initially promised to send a service person, Mathew turned hostile saying he would take no responsibility for the repair.

Usha filed a complaint with the DCDRF. The DCDRF issued summons to Mathew but he did not turn up.  The IV Additional DCDRF president G Siddanagoud allowed the complaint and directed Mathew and the proprietor of Sun Direct TV Pvt Ltd, to pay compensation of Rs 5,000 along with the case cost of Rs 2,000 to Usha.
