BANGALORE: Bangalore University (BU) has filed a case against Frameboxx, an animation centre in Bangalore which was advertising to offer a BSc degree in animation and falsely claiming it to be recognised by BU.

The Frameboxx animation centre in Koramangala was sending SMSes saying “Frameboxx offers BSc degree in animation, affiliated to Bangalore University.

Only 20 seats, classes two hours a day and six days a week.” The SMS also gave a contact number, address and an email id of the centre.

When one such SMS reached NS Ashok Kumar, co-ordinator to Electronic Media, BU, he lodged a complaint at the Koramangala police station. Speaking to Express, Ashok Kumar said when BU does not offer a BSc in animation, how can an animation centre openly say that? “We suspected and filed a case on Thursday,” he said. He requested students not to enrol in Frameboxx.

Inspector Nagaraj of Koramangala police station told Express that it has been registered as a C Mis (Criminal Miscellaneous) case. “We are doing a preliminary inquiry. There are no students admitted under this course,” he said.

Frameboxx differs with BU

Inspite of the complaint against Frameboxx, the animation centre claimed to offer the course. A staff working at Frameboxx said the course is for three years and is affiliated to Bangalore University, adding, “We charge Rs 3.53 lakh for all the three years.”

What VC says?

The Vice Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev said there are no animation courses on offer from colleges or centres which are affiliated to BU.

“We request the public to check the names of colleges or institutes in our website before enrolling in any courses,” he said.
