BANGALORE: Filmmaker Geetha Krishna, who is making a debut in Sandalwood with the film Coffee Shop, has been given a green signal by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).
Krishna, who is a well-known director in Telugu film industry, had initially titled the film Coffee Bar but, the KFCC suggested him to change the title which he obliged to.
The film has been made in three languages - Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Ironically it’s titled Coffee Bar in Telugu, while its Tamil version is named Nimidangal.
Biyanka Desai and Shashank play the lead pair in this tri-lingual film.
On a tete-a-tete with Expresso, the director Krishna said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, had released the audio cassettes of its Telugu version on December 22. “There has been a very good response to the audio of Coffee Bar. I am planning to release the Kannada version on December 30. I am inviting Puneeth Rajkumar and his family for the audio release. Many important personalities of Kannada film industry will also attend the function. I am expecting Minister Katta Subramaniam Naidu to be the chief guest at the function,’’ informed the director.
He claimed that Coffee Shop is a realistic thriller with a message, and will woo all kinds of audience. “I have used two cameramen — Murali Pallikonda, an NRI, and M V Raghu, who have worked for K Viswanath’s films — for this film. It is based on terrorism and conveys a message to the society. It shows how a person with perverted mind can create havoc in society. I can assure one thing that my film `Coffee Shop’ will not only be a different film but will also cater to the needs all types of audience,’’ said Krishna.
He told us that versatile actor Atul Kulkarni plays a key role in this film. “Kulkarni has already proved his mettle in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films. He is an added value for my film,’’ he says.
Appreciating Biyanka Desai for her acting in the film, he said, “Biyanka has done a good job in all the three versions.
She had difficulty in understanding the Tamil and Telugu dialogues, but with the Kannada version, she was completely at ease, ’’ he said. Krishna plans to release the film January 21.
