

BANGALORE: Ticket booking to various destinations operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) can now be done through GPRS-enabled mobile phones, through ngpay— a mobile commerce service provider.
KSRTC launched its mobile ticket booking service on Thursday at its Central Office on K H Road. KSRTC is believed to be the first among State Transport Undertakings in the country to launch the mobile ticket booking service.
Launching the service, Transport Minister R Ashoka said that with ticket booking has now become easier for travellers. “From now on, travellers need not wait at reservation counters to book tickets,” he said.
The Minister said that the mobile ticket booking can be availed for all KSRTC services including Airawatha (Volvo), Ambari (Corona), Meghadootha, Rajahamsa, Sheetal and Karnataka Sarige buses.
The KSRTC has an online reservation system— Any where Any Time Advance Reservation (AWATAR) and also an e-ticketing system.
Ashoka said that AWATAR service would be extended and expanded further.

Download the secure ngpay application on a GPRSenabled phone. It costs Rs 3.
After completion of an one-time registration with name and address, you are ready to book tickets.
You can select the class of service, seats, and also specify a convenient pickup point.
The payment can be made using credit cards, debit cards, HDFC and Axis bank accounts and cash cards.
The service also allows cancellation of booked tickets.
On completion of booking, a PNR number will be generated and stored in the ngpay application.
An e-ticket will also be generated and sent via email.
Those passengers who do not have an e-mail can show the PNR details at KSRTC reservation counters and get their tickets.
PNR number shall be sent via SMS as well.
While travelling passengers must carry valid photo ID card.
