BANGALORE: Sending a strong signal to the police officers warning them against negligence of duty, the city police commissioner has ordered suspension of three police officials, including two police inspectors.
Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said Inspector of Vivekanagar police station Manjunath Babu was suspended following a raid by the Central Crime Branch sleuths on a gambling den in his jurisdiction.
Last week, CCB officials raided a commercial complex in Viveka Nagar on a tipoff that a shop is running the banned lottery.
The officials who recovered huge sums of money and booked the owner of the shop also found lapse on part of Inspector Babu for not stopping the banned lottery.
Another police inspector suspended was Narasimha Reddy. He was suspended because he was late in registering complaint of a victim, Bidari said.
Siddapura police station Sub Inspector Lakshman Gowda was suspended after he was held by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe of `5,000 from a woman at a hotel in Jayanagar in the last week of October.
The woman had registered a dowry harassment complaint in Siddapura police station against her soninlaw.
Gowda reportedly demanded `5,000 bribe and asked for sexual favours from her.
