BANGALORE: Abdul Karim Telgi, the kingpin of a multi-crore stamp paper scam, has confessed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Bangalore on behalf of a Pune court on Saturday.

In an in-camera proceeding, Telgi had submitted his confession (statement) before the court with regard to two stamp paper cases in Pune. According to sources, he had confessed that he was guilty in both the cases, and said he would submit his confession in another case on Monday.

Earlier, the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court, Pune, had wanted to record his confession statement in person, but the Bangalore court did not permit this for security reasons.

The statement was recorded before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in the presence of advocates, RMD Chavan and MT Nanaiah. It may be recalled that Telgi had been convicted in 46 similar cases across the country, including seven in Bangalore.
