BANGALORE: Miscreants who planned the hoax bomb at Vydehi Hospital in Whitefield on Monday came up with a novel idea.
They posted a bill on the Hospital wall that said a timer bomb was planted on the premises that would explode anytime after noon.
A thorough check of the premises revealed the threat to be a hoax but around 100 patients, admitted in the hospital, went through a harrowing time as they were moved out of the hospital for almost two hours.
At 9.30 am, the hospital's security supervisor Thomas noticed a bill posted on the wall near the chamber of the head of the department of cardiology.
"We give you three hours to evacuate the people and trace the bomb, failing which it would be a disaster. The bomb will go off as soon as your time is over. Insha Allah will help you in this game. So, let's begin," said the letter.
Police said Thomas alerted the Whitefield police and they rushed to the spot with the bomb squad, sniffer dogs and finger print experts.
During the search, the same bill was found posted on a notice board of the Vydehi Medical College.
After a thorough search for more than an hour, the police concluded that it was a prank played by some miscreants as no explosives were detected.
But the hospital authorities decided to shift more than 100 patients to avoid disaster.
Patients had to agree to the move as it was to ensure their safety.
They were kept waiting outside the hospital for more than two hours.
Later, the hospital authorities registered a complaint with the Whitefield police.
The bill also bore the name, Maoist Communist Centre. Police said the case was being investigated.
