BANGALORE: A 26-year-old woman was gangraped by seven men in an open land at Vishwapriya Layout on Thursday.

The Electronics City police have arrested six of the accused.

According to the police, the victim was a resident of Vijayanagar and lived with her husband's family. She had come to meet her friend near Koodlu Gate on Thursday night. When she and her friend were travelling, their vehicle collided with a car.

The accused, who were in the other car, demanded Rs. 3,500 for repair works. The victim and her friend were dragged by the accused to a garage as the victim did not have enough money. The accused took both the victim and her friend in their vehicle and, on the way, her friend jumped off the vehicle.

Later, the accused took the victim to an open land in Vishwapriya Layout where they allegedly raped her.

DCP of the South East division BNS Reddy said the police arrested the accused within three hours after the complaint was filed.

"The friend, who had escaped from them, filed a complaint on Friday morning. As that person had noted the car number, the police swung into action immediately and traced the car, which was parked near accused Santosh's house in Lakshmi Layout. The victim was found with six accused in the house," he said.
