BANGALORE: A labourer was found dead at a timber factory after his neck was cut by a wood-cutting machine.
The incident was reported in CSK timber factory at Dasarahalli near Hebbal in Amruthahalli police station limits on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Raju (22), a native of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police, Raju had joined the factory about a fortnight ago and stayed in the premises of the factory. Although he was not aware of the functioning of machines, he was assigned the job of cutting wood for the first time on Wednesday.
In the afternoon, other labourers at the factory had gone out for lunch and when they returned, it was found that Raju was lying dead in a pool of blood, his neck cut by electrical wood cutting machine, the police said.
“Though it is suspected that Raju might have committed suicide, investigations are on to find out whether the incident occurred accidentally,” the police added.
In connection with the incident, the Amruthahalli police have registered a case of negligence against the factory owner and further investigations are on.
