MYSORE: A US government grant of $50,000 was given to Oriental Research Institute (ORI) to renovate the 125-year-old institute where over 70,000 rare palm manuscripts, including Kautilya’s Arthashastra, are preserved. US Consul General Jennifer McIntyre handed over the cheque to University of Mysore (UoM) V-C Prof V G Talawar at a function held on ORI premises on Tuesday.

The grant will be used for the renovation and acquisition of storage furniture for the ORI’s priceless

collection.
