BANGALORE: The Rotary International Dist.3190 is organising an all-India road show titled ‘End Polio Now’. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will flag off the Bangalore leg of the road show on February 8, 2012, from M G Road. The team will pass Brigade Road Junction, General Thimmiah Road, Cubbon Road and Anil Kumble Circle. It will cover most parts of the city by February 9 and will then proceed towards Hosur.

A team of six Rotarians started the rally on December 11 from Kerala and is reaching Bangalore after touring Mangalore, Goa, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. “This is the first time a rally of this proportion is happening in India,” said H S Kapinaiah, chairman, district Polio Plus committee.

V Ramana Reddy, Principal Secretary for  Health, Shankaralinge Gowda, Commissioner of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, and Jyothiprakash Mirji, Commissioner of Police, will attend the event on February 8.  

Rotary began a global effort to eradicate polio in 1988 and has been in the forefront by providing both timely and monetary help for the cause.
