BANGALORE: Ever thought that flying a paper plane in college could bring you anything more than the wrath of a teacher or the annoyed looks of
your folks?
City college students were given a chance to win fame and a trip to Austria by becoming the ‘National Paper Plane Champion’ organised by Red Bull Paper Wings.
The paper plane designing and flying contest aims at engaging students to think of innovative ways of folding paper and designing an aerodynamically capable plane.
The participants were judged across three categories — longest distance, maximum flight time and aerobatic flight.
Amit, president for Cultural Forum, Jain College and also the judge at the Red Bull Paper Wings contest, said, “I was really excited and happy to be present at the contest. All of us as kids have enjoyed making and flying paper planes. I think Red Bull Paper Wings is a unique concept which brings the art of making and flying paper planes on a competitive platform and builds interest in flying. It also gives the city’s youngsters an awesome opportunity to showcase their talent alongside winners from across the globe.”
The contest will also be held in other cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. The best three participants under each of the three categories from the seven cities will seal a spot at the National finals.
