BANGALORE: A 30-year-old rowdy sheeter was hacked to death by a gang of four unidentified assailants. The incident took place near Netajinagar in K P Agrahara police station limits  on Saturday evening. The victim has been identified as Saravana, a resident of Krishna Bar Road in Netajinagar. The police said that  a gang of 4-5 unidentified miscreants came in an auto rickshaw and allegedly attacked Saravana with lethal weapons when Saravana was standing near a peepal tree near his house around 5.30 pm. He was hacked to death on the spot by miscreants who sped away in the auto within a few seconds. “Earlier, Saravana was working at an incense sticks factory and of late, he did not do any work. It is suspected that old rivalry could have led to the murder,” the police added.

Suicide: A 23 year-old woman committed suicide by hanging at her residence at Yalahanka on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Nirmala, a resident of Chikkatirupati was married to Subramanya three years ago.

According to police, the incident took place at her house around 11 am. Nirmala, a garment factory worker hung herself to the fan using dupatta. After returning from work, her husband found her body hanging and he informed the police. Nirmala’s elder brother suspects that her husband’s dowry harassment is the reason for this extreme step.
