BANGALORE: On the occasion of International Women’s Day Nagavara ward conducted an ‘Intensive Cleaning Programme’ on March 9. The cleaning began at 8 am in the morning with the health officers and ward engineers along with the civic workers.

The response of the people were phenomenon. Rekha, a resident said, “ It was a brilliant initiative. We cleared the debris on the footpath.” Another resident said, “Such kind of initiatives should be conducted often and not limit themselves only to special occasions like women’s day alone.”

The area corporator could not be present at the occasion due to some personal commitment, however, she said, “I am happy with the cleaning drive that is being taken in my ward. I think such awareness programme should be introduced in every ward. Although I could not be present, my brother-in-law was present to boast the morale of the people.”
