The future architects of India competed against each other in a nail biting quiz contest held in city on Friday. The event - Archumen 2012-2013 - claimed to be the largest architecture quiz in India - saw a tough battle among the various teams. Finally, Ashvin Joshi and Arnav Garde, the duo from Pune-based Padmabhushan Dr Vasantdada Patil College of Architecture (PVPCOA) walked away with the coveted crown.
The grand finale also saw Archumen’s successful 10-year completion as a unique quiz contest, capturing the best from the world of architecture.
The event has also earned a place in the Limca Book of Records, 2013.
Speaking to City Express, Gita Balakrishnan, founder of the organising team Ethos, said: “It has been a special journey for me and I could never believe we would have come so far. I think Archumen has provided the students a great platform to know the significance of reading and having knowledge.”
Seven teams were chosen from each zone to compete for the title round. The final round saw neck-to-neck competition between PVPCOA and Bangalore-based Dayananda Sagar College, but the former team held on to their nerves and won the title for the second time in a row. “As Pete Sampras said, it is always difficult to win a title for the second time because the pressure is huge. But we are glad that we made it again and we would like to dedicate this award to all the students of our college who came along with us and supported us throughout,” said Ashvin Joshi and Arnav Garde.
The finale was followed by Archumen Pro, a quiz for the established architects. In this segment, architects Vivek Chandran and Madhuri Rao won the title.
