Learning through the mobile

In this day and age when every child has a mobile and a tablet, it has become necessary for teachers to use technology while teaching. Keeping this in mind EdServ, an educational services company, has introduced a mobile application called 2tion Plus.

The app is helpful not only for teachers but also for students. The app, available on Kindle store, Android market and the Samsung app store, allows users access to videos, ebooks and to form study groups.

According to Sujai G Pillai, head EdServ mobile division, 2tionPlus is the Facebook of learning, and is specially prepared for Indian students for collaborative learning.

“With this app, all students have equal opportunities to get excellent support from 30,000 expert tutors and access to thousands of video lectures by experts. Students can download thousands of free e-books and can also clarify doubts directly with the experts,” he explained.

The app allows users to meet other students with similar interests and form study groups. “For instance, if a student is interested in a particular topic, he can meet others who are interested in the same topic and they can talk and share knowledge about the topic,” said Pillai.

The idea of creating an app, Pillai said, came when the government decided to provide tablet PCs to all students.

“Even if a student has the world’s best tablet, or the cheapest, its will be no use unless they have the right apps, which is why we decided to create 2tion plus,” he said.

With the 2tion plus app, students will have more access to information, which makes learning easier. The app does not just have academic content but also has games like chess and sudoku along with tools like a talking dictionary and phrases among others.

“Once the Aakash tablet is ready, we will ensure all students who receive the tablet from the government are taught how to use the application and make learning easier,” said Pillai.
