‘Most stupid thing I did’

Twenty sixyear- old Govind (name changed) popped a handful of pills a few years ago and woke up in a hospital room. His parents had abandoned him, fearing police problem and his sweetheart also decided to give him the boot, calling him a coward.

His employer, a leading IT company, sacked after this move. “I wanted to end my life because I was troubled with everything and nothing was going right. I had a high profile position in a big company, but I couldn’t make things work in my life.

I had made a huge investment in a start-up with a friend, but he cheated me, took all my money and fled. I decided that ending this life was the best solution,” he recalled. “It was the most stupid thing I’ve done all my life.  Later also I wanted to commit suicide a million times again. I had to start everything from scratch.

An old friend made me realise I wanted a new life,” he explained. This realisation made him look at life from a different perspective. Today, Govind works as an artist and has sold over 200 of his paintings across the country. His message to people to with suicidal tendencies: “Better make peace with your life and try to make it better. Don’t lose hope, because everything that happens, happens for good.”
