 As one enters the famous Jaganath temple in Puri, the metallic sounds of the gong reverberate with the evening aarti. Situated on the shores of Puri, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shree Jagannath Puri (Lord Krishna), Lord of the Universe.

 Raja Ananta Varman Chodaganga Dev was the reason behind the inception of this temple.

 One of the most sought after events in this temple town is the Rath yatra.

 It is one of the most popular attractions of this temple every year.

 It is basically a chariot festival, where idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, the main deities of Srimandir, are taken to the Gundicha temple in bejewelled chariots and are brought back to the temple in the same way.  Konark is another place one must visit during their stay at Puri.

 Tourists from all over the world visit the sun temple. Moreover, it is a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site. The architectural grandeur of the temple is unbelievable as it is designed in the— shape of a chariot carrying the Sun God.

 The walls are embellished with exquisite carvings. The entrance is guarded by two lions, each crushing a war elephant and each elephant in turn lies on top of a human body. Other temples that one can visit here is the Markandeyesvara Temple.

 Established in the 13th century, it is a well known Shiva temple. Then there is the Ganesha Temple, believed to have been built aeons ago. And finally the gorgeous Lakshmi temple, dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, situated near the famous Jagnaath temple attracts devotees from far and wide.

 Moving from temples to beaches, Puri beach is well known for its spectacular sunrise and sunsets which is considered the ultimate destination for spiritual peace.

 The Puri beach festival held during November every year is visited by many tourists. The festival includes road shows, fashion shows, shopping facilities and many other fun assisted celebrations. Located around 50 km from Puri, Chilika Lake is one of the most famous lakes in the state of Orissa.

 The lake is a big tourist attraction with many small islands inhabited by migratory birds during winters which makes it even more popular. The view of the sunset and sunrise is an unforgettable experience.  The main attraction at Satapada is its Chilika boating and Dolphin watch.
