Sri Ramseva Mandali to get Rs. 25L next year

BANGALORE:  Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda kicked off the month-long musical fiesta marking the beginning of the 74th Sri Ramanavami celebrations organised by Sri Ramseva Mandali at Chamarajpet on Sunday.

On the occasion, he announced that he would release `25 lakh for the organisation next year.

“I have always appreciated the cultural activities conducted by Sri Ramseva Mandali. Next year, I propose to release `25 lakh for the organisation,” he said.

The Sri Ramseva Mandali has already received `20 lakh this year.

Manu Baligar, Commissioner of the Kannada and Culture Department, said, “It is our responsibility to encourage such cultural activities. In an age of westernisation, our culture, tradition, music and art are on the verge of extinction. I want to assure the Chief Minister and everyone that every single paisa of `269 crore which has been allotted to the Kannada and Culture Department will be utilised effectively and transparently for the welfare of the department.”

The 74th Sri Ramanavami celebrations are on till May 6 at Fort High School grounds in Chamarajpet.

Artistes K J Yesudas, Sudha Raghunathan, Lalgudi and Malladi brothers, Bombay Jayashree among others will be part of the month long activities.
