BANGALORE: Dowry harassment allegedly forced a woman to commit suicide at Muneshwara Block near T C Palya on Thursday morning. The deceased, Chandramma (24), a housewife and a resident of Bangarpet in Kolar district, was married to Shivakumar, a labourer. The police said she committed suicide at her house at around 6 am following a quarrel with her husband the previous night.
Chandramma’s mother has filed a complaint against Shivakumar at Ramamurthynagar police station.
She claimed in the complaint, that she was informed that her daughter was serious. She rushed to her house and saw her daughter’s body, which had severe head injuries and was thrown in front of the door. She also claimed that Shivakumar frequently used to quarrel with Chandramma for dowry.
Ramamurthynagar police have registered a case and arrested Shivakumar.
Auto Driver Commits Suicide
A 23-year-old auto driver committed suicide by hanging at Kadapa Swamy Math Grounds in K P Agrahara police station limits on Thursday morning. The deceased, identified as Suneel was a resident of Pategarapalya.
The incident came to light around 9 am when Suneel’s body was found by a passerby, who informed the police.
According to the police, Suneel, who had a fight with his elder brother Anil over a financial issue, had not returned home for a week. A case has been registered at K P Agrahara police station.
Man Kills Colleague with Stone
A 24-year-old man was allegedly killed by his colleague after quarrelling over a petty issue at Konappana Agrahara in Parappana Agrahara police station limits on Wednesday night.
The victim, Anand, a native of Kolar, was staying in a rented house with his colleague Santhosh. Both Santosh and Anand had gone to watch a movie, while returning home, Anand allegedly abused a girl, who is close to Santhosh and got into a heated argument. In the melee, Santosh pushed him on the ground and smashed his head with a stone. Anand who sustained severe head injuries died on the spot.
The police registered a case of murder and arrested the accused Santosh.
