Syed Imran Azeez, Executive Director, Mohammed Khan & Sons speaks to Vyas Sivanand about the unique features of their stores.

What is the USP of your store considering the immense competition in jewellery retail in the city?

Our USP is the craftsmanship which has been perfected with time. Our designs are quite in-depth and there is meaning in each product. Be it Amritsari, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Nellore, Mumbai or Andhra design, we have our own craftsmen. We do not go for cheap labour and invest in experienced craftsmen. Each of our craftsmen have about 30-40 years of experience.

We are known for our exclusive and exquisite collection of gold and diamond jewellery. We have various varieties of diamonds also; uncut diamonds which has Solitaire Gemological Laboratories certification. We realise the impact and magic of finely crafted gold and diamond jewellery that adds charm and beauty to ones personality. Commitment, dedication and professionalism has been our benchmark and will remain forever.

Our showroom in Bangalore has a total area of the showroom is 8000 sq. ft and we offer Indian and imported designs. We have 15 different types of work right from antique to Bengal, Kolkata, Bombay, Italian and Singapore designs apart from Nellore and Coimbatore.

What was reason to establish a branch in Bangalore?

We have 13 branches; 12 in Andhra Pradesh and one in Karnataka, in Bangalore. We started this branch in November 2011 because we saw a potential market here. We wanted to enter a potential area which is new and the response has been great. People are appreciating our designs as they are experiencing a new pattern in jewellery. Our other branches are in Guntur, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Warangal and Vizag.

What are your marketing strategies?

We are currently running a promotion with four cars and six bikes as a lucky draw. Anybody who purchases jewellery worth Rs 10, 000 will get a coupon which has to dropped in the box at the showroom. We will be going for a lucky draw, all at a time, very soon.

We also have gold saving and money saving schemes. In the money saving scheme, after 12 months the customer can purchase jewellery to the saved amount. In the gold saving scheme, gold gets accumulated and the customer can enjoy the benefit after a particular period which takes care of the fluctuation in gold prices.

In addition to showroom sales, we participate in numerous Domestic and International exhibitions, some of the notable one’s held in America (TANA, Chicago), Dubai, Sharjah, Singapore & Malaysia. On the coming days we will be witnessing more and more participation from our side. We are keeping no stone unturn to keep up to the competition in the market. After all, it is very necessary to be in the news if you want to your product to get noticed and sold in the market.

Do you have plans to expand in Karnataka?

We do not have any immediate plans to foray into other locations of Bangalore or to other cities of Karnataka. We will be studying the dynamics of each area and then look at expansion. But the idea of expansion seems very interesting and we will be working towards in some where down the line. However, we do not have any immediate plans of such.
