BANGALORE: Unit 6 of the Raichur Power Thermal Station (RTPS), located 20 km north of Raichur, failed on Saturday, bringing the total production of RTPS down by 210 MW.
RTPS has a total of eight units and has a maximum installed capacity of 1720 MW. Its total generation for Thursday was 32.407 million units (MU). The failure was attributed to a boiler tube leakage by the Executive Director, RTPS, Bhaskar. “It will take two to three days for the problem to be solved,” he said.
BESCOM sources said the failure would not impact power supply to the city.
