BANGALORE: Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) on Wednesday launched a centralised help desk which would cater to complaints from consumers from across the state 24x7.

Launching the helpdesk on Wednesday, State Energy Minister Shobha Karandjale stated that in view of the ongoing drought in the state, the helpline would also be used to cater to other problems being faced by the citizens.

“We have been receiving calls that officials are not responding to complaints filed by citizens. So we have decided to receive complaints on their behalf and forward the same to the officials concerned,” Shobha said. She added that a list of complaints would be made and sent to the Deputy Commissioner and other officials for follow-up. “This list will go at 10 am and 6 pm everyday and they will be asked to revert with action taken in the next two days. I shall come here as often as I can and monitor the situation personally,” the minister promised.

The helpline will have 50 lines and a new control centre at the BESCOM office.
