Man stabbed to death by brother

BANGALORE: A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death by his younger brother over a trivial issue at Honaganahalli village in Tavarekere police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Friday. The victim has been identified as Channegowda and his brother Muniraju is accused of the murder.

Police said that the victim wanted to build a shed on the land belonging to his father Muninarasaiah. The brothers had a heated argument over the issue and in a fit of rage, Muniraju  stabbed Channegowda. Though the villagers shifted Channegowda to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead.

2 Sentenced to Life Imprisonment

The 12th Fast Track Court  sentenced two accused for murder to life imprisonment besides levying a penalty of `25,000 on each. Basavaraju (43) and Chandra (27) are the convicted persons.

The duo had murdered one, Ravi (21), by dropping a boulder on his head near Maruti Bar in LG Ramanna Extension in Laggere on the night of February 7, 2010. The accused and the victim had gone to a bar and had quarrelled over a trivial issue. After coming out, the accused persons, who were in an inebriated state, had attacked Ravi and killed him.

The Rajagopalnagar police had investigated the case and had arrested the duo. The then inspector of Rajagopalnagar station, Poornachandra Tejaswi, had filed chargesheet in the court. The Judge Managoli Premavathi Mallikarjuna found the duo guilty of the murder and convicted them.
