BANGALORE: A 29-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at SR Compound in Hulimavu Police station limits on Saturday evening.
The deceased, Venkatesha Reddy, a native of Chittur in Andra Pradesh, was working as a driver and was residing at Vijayshri Layout with his family. He was married to Chittamma, who is speech-impaired. He owned a tempo traveller for Sai Garments, the police said.
According to police reports, Vekatesh took this extreme step because he was depressed in life. He called his friend Jigani Raju over phone before committing suicide and requested him not to inform anyone about his decision. The police finally found his body after tracking his mobile phone network. A case has been registered at Hulimavu Police station.
In another incident, dejected over health problems, an 18-year-old youth committed suicide by consuming poison near Laggere in Nadini Layout police station limits on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mahesh, a resident of Kembabudikere. He was working in an automobile workshop. The incident came to light at around 11.30 pm when passers-by found his body in an open area opposite Kanteerava Studio and informed the police.
According to the police, Mahesh had gone to meet his friends at Laggere and while returning home had consumed poison as he was suffering from stomach ache, which could be the reason to take the extreme step.
But according to sources, Mahesh had married a girl from a different cast a few days ago. His mother had opposed the marriage. His mother’s opinion had depressed him and this could be a reason for the suicide.
His body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post mortem and a case has been registered at Nandini Layout police station.
