5 Arrested for Chain Snatching, Robbery

BANGALORE: Chikkajala police arrested five persons, who were accused of chain snatching and robbery. Jewels worth `4.5 lakh, lethal weapon and a two-wheeler have been recovered from them.

BANGALORE: Chikkajala police arrested five persons, who were accused of chain snatching and robbery. Jewels worth `4.5 lakh, lethal weapon and a two-wheeler have been recovered from them.

Following recent chain snatching and robbery incidents, police had constituted an investigative team under the guidance of DCP G Ramesh to crack the cases.

The accused have been identified as Venkatesh, 23, Gajendra alias Gaja, 21, both residents of Chikkajala, Tulasiram, 26, Jagannath, 25, and Shashi, 23, natives of Andhra Pradesh. They were arrested near Shettigere level crossing where they  were planning to rob passersby. Police said the accused used to target lone women and committed robbery.

According to the police, the accused used to snatch ornaments from women while riding a two-wheeler and threaten them.
