BANGALORE: Intense excitement and action was felt on the first edition of FMSCI Indian National Autocross Championship (INAC) 2012 that was held at Palace Grounds on April 29th. Autocross of Bangalore in association with An Open Mind (AOM) and Wynnsport brought about 80 male drivers and six female drivers who set the tracks on fire.

Some of the country’s best drivers like A R Shabbir, Autocross Champion; Baban Khan, who had earlier participated in over 600 races; Deepak Paul Chinnappa, Car Circuit Racing Champion; Rahul Kantharaj, Car Racing Champion; Lohit Urs, Autocross and Rally Champion; Karan AM, 1400 cc INRC Champion participated in this event.

B S Rudresh took the first place in the Class 1 category with a timing of 2 minutes 41 seconds while Ranjith Ballal  (46 years) came first in the Class 2 and Class 6 (Gypsy) categories with a timing of 2 minutes 42 seconds and 2 minutes 37 seconds respectively. In the Class 3 category  (1150 to 1400 cc Open), BG Denthimmaiah came first with a timing of 2 minutes 35 seconds while Chetan Shivram came first in the Class 4 category (1400 to 1600 cc Open Class) with a timing of 2 minutes 32 seconds.  In the Class 5 category (Upto 3000 cc Open), Lohith Urs came first with a timing of 2 minutes 31 seconds.

In the women’s category, Anitha Kholay bagged the second place with a timing of 3 minutes. The event not only saw motor sport racing, but also a show by the Harley Davidson Club of Bangalore,  ‘Rock Hammer 2012’ — a rock competition for local bands.
