BANGALORE: A thirty-eight-year old woman got new lease of life after city-based doctors removed 2.72 kg of fibroid from her abdomen.

According to the doctors at Beams Hospitals, there were many challenges in removing such large fibroids as they were occupying almost the entire abdomen and putting pressure on surrounding parts.

There was very less space to put laparoscopic instruments and operate. Secondly, fibroids are very richly supplied with blood and fibroid removal causes excessive bleeding. Also, visibility is hampered due to large fibroids and  bleeding.

The patient was discharged from the hospital and is now walking independently.
