Gomala row: HC notice to government, RSP

The High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the State Government,Deputy Secretary for Revenue Department and Rashtrotthana Parishat

(RSP) represented by its Secretary General in connectionwith a PIL alleging encroachment of gomala (grazing grounds) land atNayakandranalli and Juganahalli near Doddaballapur taluk.

Hearing the petition filed by Dr Venkata Reddy, Vice- Presidentof Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, a Division Bench, comprising Chief JusticeVikramajit Sen and Justice Aravind Kumar also directed authorities to maintain statusquo in the case.

The Bench adjourned the case to October 17 for further hearing.Rashtrotthana Parishat has written a letter addressing former Revenue Ministerand BJP MLA Karunakar

Reddy seeking to allot 50 acres of land inNayakandranalli and 23.3 acres in Juganahalli. Based on the requisition, Reddyhad allegedly directed the concerned authorities to allot the land in favour ofparishat in 2010. The petitioner has now moved the court alleging that thegovernment has illegally allotted land meant for gomala to the Rashtrotthanana Parishat.
