Mussoorie, the queen of hill stations

One of the favourite hubs for honeymoon couples, Mussoorie is a place of enchanting grandeur. A stroll on the roads of Mussoorie will take you to their famous street  shopping destinations while horses await leisurely to take you for a ride. Mussoorie is one of the most popular hill stations in Uttarakhand. Situated at the foothills of Himalayas at an altitude of 2,000 meters (6,600 ft), it has been nicknamed as the Queen of the Hills.

This is a fascinating hill station that offers beautiful views. Over the years, it has successfully lured tourists as it offers breathtaking view of mist capped peaks of mighty Himalayan ranges to the north-east. One can just sit in one corner of any road and stare at the majesty of mother nature. There are small rest houses for the tourists to sit and gaze at the serene scenery.

It is an ideal spot for couples for their romantic vacations and honeymooners as many couples visit Mussoorie every year and takes away with them the most undying moments. Mussoorie can also be called as the Valley of lakes. Lake Mist, Mussoorie lake and Municipal garden are the three famous lakes here.

Located 5 km before Kempty falls, Lake Mist provides an apt picnic spot with quality restaurants and boating facilities.

And, the icing on the cake are the small waterfalls. The Mussoorie Lake is an ideal picnic spot built by the City Board and Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority. The striking part of this lake is that it offers fascinating view of the Doon Valley and nearby villages.

Like all other hill stations even Mussourie houses innumerable falls. Bhatta Falls is located near the Bhatta village. With ponds and small lakes, this is an ideal place to hang out with friends and family. On the other hand, Mossy Falls surrounded by a dense forest, is just 7 kms from Mussoorie.

Don’t forget to visit Sir George Everest’s House where one can find the remains of the building and the laboratory of Sir George Everest, the Surveyor-General of India from 1830 to 1843. The view of Doon Valley on one side and the snow peaks of the Himalayan ranges makes it one of the most romantic

places. Besides, there are numerous cottages and guest houses available for honeymoon couples making it an idyllic spot away from the humdrum of everyday life.
