Aiming to be better entrepreneurs

The Production unit of Nehru Arts and Science College was started in 2010. At present there are six production units functioning with the support of the management. This scheme trains the students to earn while they learn. Resourceful in its nature, the scheme emphasises the importance of earning and its tactics. This boosts confidence among the students and is a shortcut to reach the target as a young entrepreneur.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, set up Entrepreneurship Development Cells (EDCs) in educational institutions.

The new education policy of 1986 emphasised the need for vocationalisation of education at various levels. The objective of the training is to give practical exposure which creates the environment to learn things in the best way. Entrepreneur skill development programmes are being organised regularly to nurture the talent of youth by enlightening them on various aspects of industrial activity required for setting up their own concern. Entrepreneur skills of the students evolve through this kind of workshop.

Students of the different production units of the college set up stalls to provide information on their products which were on sale. Many people visited the stalls to check out the products and received a clear insight into the organic farming, electronics products, catering and hotel management and fashion design.
