NIA takes over terror case

The probe into the alleged plot to target politicians and journalists in Karnataka by 15 terror suspects has been handed over to the National Investigative Agency, Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji said.

They were arrested by the Central Crime Branch police recently. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mirji said, “The Centre had asked the state government to hand over the case to the NIA as the suspects have nationwide and international links.”

“The NIA officials will take the suspects into custody only if it is required. The chargesheet in the case will be filed by the NIA officials,” he said.

“Some officers in the city will be helping the NIA in the investigation and filing of the chargesheet,” he added.
