In order to raise money to develop Dr K Shivramkaranth Layout, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is exploring the possibility of undertaking works to develop Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout along with Arkavathy Layout by January 15.

BDA Commissioner T Sham Bhatt said, “We don’t have sufficient funds to develop both Kempegowda Layout and Shivramkaranth Layout simultaneously. As  Shivramkaranth Layout was notified long back we have to develop it at the earliest. Therefore, we are exploring the possibility of allotting works to develop Kempegowda Layout to generate funds (for that).”

According to Bhatt, the BDA has disbursed compensation for 1,300 acres of land for Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout and developmental works can be started there.

The government had notified 4,814.15 acres of land for Kempegowda Layout in and around twelve villages situated between Magadi Road and Mysore Road for developing 60,789 sites. It had also allocated `2,639 crore for disbursal of compensation to land owners who had to give their lands for the layout.

For the first time, the BDA has given the land owners the liberty of either accepting a monetary compensation ranging from `80 lakh to `1 crore per acre or 40 per cent of the developed land in return for their lands.

Similarly, the government had notified 3,546 acres of land in and around 17 villages between Doddballapur Road and Hessarghatta Road for Shivramkaranth Layout and has completed hearing objections raised against the land  acquisition.

Both Kempegowda Layout and Shivramkaranth Layout are among the five layouts that the government proposed to develop to allot 1.5 lakh sites to aspirants. The other three are D Devraj Urs Layout, Dr K C Reddy Layout and S Nijalingappa Layout.
