BANGALORE: Alila Bangalore in association with Right Lines Art Gallery presents Time past is Present, an art exhibition by Sudip Roy, acclaimed artist and winner of Art Biennale 2011 awards. Sudip Roy’s oeuvre travels between time past and present. His exhibition throws the flashback and echoes the present in the hour glass of time.
In myriad ways this show straddles mediums, moods and materials. The vast range of techniques and the idea of perception worked on perfecting his representation of figures and faces, makes this show by Sudip Roy one
to savour long after.
The exhibition presents a glimpse into a vast body of work that spans the last three decades. Sudip has worked with a variety of mediums over time and has shown that he is equally comfortable with all of them.
The exhibition also captures the different moods and varied passions of the artist and reflects his progression through realism to abstraction. Sudip works in oil as well as watercolors.
Roy’s strength lies in his realistic rendering of everyday things in life. He takes inspiration from the people and objects
that he sees around him.
His work is a celebration of everyday life, showcasing ordinary things that one would normally overlook as routine and unimportant. His control of shade and light gives a wonderful depth to his work making it seem extremely real. Sudip Roy is a graduate from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. He has been a recipient of several awards including a Gold Medal from the Sahitya Parishad, Calcutta in 1979 and an award from AIFACS, Delhi in 1991. He has presented his work as a solo artist in several cities across India and has also been a participant at group exhibitions in India as well as abroad.
Sudip Roy has exhibited far and wide in India and overseas. Sudip Roy’s art will be showcased at Alila Bangalore till February 11 between 11 am and 9 pm. Alila Bangalore is located on Varthur Main Road in Whitefield.
