BANGALORE: The Mico Layout police arrested three persons who allegedly tried to cheat a businessman by claiming that `15 lakh cash that belonged to him was stolen.

The accused have been identified as Ajit Kumar Sharma, Ravindra and Sahu, all natives of Odissa. Sharma was working for the businessman while the other two worked as security guards.

The police said that Sunil Agarwal, a resident of Madiwala who owns a steel shop on J C Road, had asked Sharma, who works in his shop, to bring `15 lakh cash to his house. But Sharma allegedly conspired with the other two and planned to escape with the money by telling Agarwal that the money was stolen. Later, he gave the cash to his associates and asked them to wait near the railway station.

To make his employer believe him, Sharma allegedly cut his wrist and went to Agarwal’s house and told him that while he was coming, some miscreants attacked him and snatched away the cash. “But Agarwal brought Sharma to the police station and when the latter was questioned, he confessed his plan. The trio had planned to take a train to Odissa once Sharma reached the railway station. Later, the three were arrested and the cash was recovered,” the police explained. Mico Layout police registered a case.
