BANGALORE: An unidentified thief dropped boulders on the heads of a couple killing the woman and severely hurting her husband. The incident was reported  near Thamma Reddy School in Beretena Agrahara on Hosur Road in the wee hours of Friday. The identity of the deceased woman aged about 26 years is yet to be established while her husband Chamaraju, 40, a native of Tamil Nadu, has sustained head injuries. The couple were ragpickers.

The police said that Chamaraju and his wife were asleep in front of a scrap shop to which they used to supply scrap materials. Around 1.30 am, the scrap yard owner Kadiriyappan heard a noise and came out to check what had happened. He noticed a person searching for something near the couple and seeing Kadiriyappan he fled away.

When Kadiriyappan went near the couple he found them in a pool of blood as the miscreant had dropped a boulder on their heads. “Though the duo were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, the doctors declared the woman was brought dead. Chamaraju is  hospitalised,”  the police said. They suspect there an acquaintance of the couple could be involved.
