With the spring season approaching, designer Shilu Kumar unveils her latest Spring/Summer 2012 collection, ‘Petanu’ to beat the intense summer heat. The collection is inspired by art movements around the world ranging from art deco to modern iconography.
Petanu by Pashma is driven by a range of graphics that present a confluence of varied cultural influences. The collection consists of dresses, contemporised tunics, kaftans and tops in an array of colors and graphics that range from bold monochromes to vibrant pop colors such as lime, electric blue and fuscia in luxe summer fabrics that consist primarily of fine silks and linens. Vivid colours, textures, forms and styles come together to form this collection translating the core philosophies of Pashma — exquisite quality and a unique artistic aesthetic into a more vivid summer
Speaking about the collection Kumar states, “Presenting a contemporised spirit of William Shakespeare’s, ‘A midsummer night’s dream’, the collection presents a spectacle of bright and feminine lightweight fabrics that allows one to escape the unnatural uncertainties of their lives.”
With distinctive styling that is contemporary yet wearable, Petanu is a collection targeted at the active modern woman who flaunts her own aesthetic visions. Through thoughtful detailing and styling, the collection bridges the gap between resort wear and urban wear meaning that it can find a place in a woman’s wardrobe right from
Bali to New York.
Capturing the International market by storm, Pashma runs on its design philosophy of ‘use of premium noble fibres, including cashmere, silk, linen, and treating them with exotic recipes that were used by artisans of yesteryear’. The collection is available at Collage.
