BANGALORE: The State government has agreed to authorise the bankers to access and download the land records from the Bhoomi website and not insist on original RTCs from the farmers while lending farm loans.

Responding to banking institutions’ request, Rajiv Chawla, Secretary to State government, said that a gazette notification would be issued on the matter soon.

He said that the move would help to reduce the cost of obtaining loan for the farmers and complete the loan processing fast.

Chawla assured the bankers at the State-level bankers committee meeting that the government would make the existing Bhoomi software compatible with new version since the I-keys required for authentication have been changed to 2,048 bits.
