BANGALORE: The I PUC History, Electronics and Computer Science examinations that were to be held on February 28 have been deferred in different districts by the Deputy Directors of PU Education (DDPU).

As per the revised time table for Bangalore, the examination will be held on March 5. In other districts, the exam will most probably be held after the last exam.

The deferment comes in the backdrop of a national strike called by unions of several Public Sector Units (PSU) against labour-related issues, a strike called by a few autorickshaw unions demanding a hike in fares and a bundh called by Students’ Federation of India (SFI) against the alleged saffronisation of textbooks.  “It has been decided to postpone the exam to ensure no untoward incident occurs in view of the bundh. We did not want to take any chances despite the exam getting over at 12.15 pm,” said T Chowdappa, Deputy Director of PU Education (DDPU), Bangalore North.

Officials further said many parents were worried over security and the availability of transportation. “We did want to take any extra risks by holding the exam. We have communicated tit to students, parents and colleges,” an official said.

The rest of the examination schedule remains the same. No holiday has been declared for schools and colleges on Tuesday.
