BANGALORE: Tension prevailed in Nandini Layout when 16-year-old boy experimented with his amateur driving skills. According to sources Pavan Kumar, son of one Umesh Reddy, at about 4.45 pm went for a drive in his Maruti car. As Pavan did not have proper driving skills, he allegedly rammed into two bikes, parked on road in Nandini Layout, 4th block. Reportedly, he did not have driving licence.

According to police sources, the car rammed into an electric pole and stopped. Passers-by panicked at the rash driving skills of the boy. Rajajinagar traffic police booked a case and seized the car from the boy.

Woman Commits Suicide

A 27-year-old home maker allegedly committed suicide by hanging. The deceased,  Kavitha, was a resident of Hegganahalli. Kavitha was married to Madhusudhan , an employee at  a fabric company. While Kavitha hailed from Kalahasti, Madhusudhan was a native of Chitoor  in Andra Pradesh.

The couple resided at a rented house in Hegganahalli. Reportedly Madhusudan was a habitual drunkard and Kavitha was upset over this matter. As it was new year, Madhusudhan had reached home drunk and the couple had a verbal duel.

When Lakshmamma the house-owner went to distribute cakes to Kavitha’s house, she found Kavitha’s body hanging from the ceiling.

Vehicles Gutted in Fire Mishap

One car and about 12 two-wheelers were gutted in fire mishap that happened at  around 3.30 am at a colony in Gottigere.  The incident came to light when the residents sensed smoke. Fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. No casualties were reported, Hulimavu police said.

Residents of that colony had parked their vehicles together in a common area.  According to sources, they had bursted crackers on New Year’s Eve.

It is suspected that sparks of the crackers could have triggered the fire mishap.
