BANGALORE: As envisaged, the state government has buried the alleged Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) multicrore bogus bill scam, which was entrusted to the CID on November 28, 2011. The government has reordered the CID to restrict their probe only to irregularities in road asphalting works.

As per the previous order issued in November, CID was asked to probe into all the works undertaken by BBMP for three years from 2005 in three constituencies: Gandhinagar, Malleswaram and Rajarajeshwarinagar.

In the revised order, dated December 7, 2011, the order restricts CID to probe into irregularities in asphalting work at Gandhinagar, Malleshwaram and Rajarajeshwarinagar. According to a BBMP official, majority of the irregularities take place in the engineering division. “The then probing agency Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force had zeroed on an executive engineer from Gandhinagar and had arrested him. When they were making headway, the government handed over the probe to CID, who has now  been restricted to probe into asphalting. This is a clear case of burying facts,” the official  said.
